Griezmann's plaque outside Atleti's stadium vandalized again
- The Rojiblancos fans almost defaced the commemorative plaque outside the Wanda Metropolitano.
- They did the same with Thibaut Courtois' one when the goalkeeper left Chelsea for Real Madrid.
Atletico Madrid fans are rather unforgiving. They keep vandalizing the commemorative plaque of Antoine Griezmann located outside the Wanda Metropolitano stadium again and again. They did it when his transfer to Barcelona was just announced and added some more harm on Sunday's night, just before their league opener against Getafe.
One can see from these pictures that Griezmann's plaque is now 'adorned' by stickers, beer cans, nutshells, spits and plenty of other garbage.
If this could console Griezmann, Atletico Madrid fans tend to be furious with most of their former stars who have left for the rival clubs. Real Madrid's current goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois shares the same fate: his plaque outside Atleti's home ground is almost defaced. And he joined Blancos from Chelsea, not directly from the city rivals!
Griezmann joined Barcelona in July as soon as his €200m release clause dropped down at €120m. Exactly a year ago, the Frenchman rejected the Catalans' offer and pledged loyalty to Atletico in the notorious 'The Decision' movie. The Rojiblancos were even going to take the issue to the court, demanding Barca to pay the player's release clause in full.
