Klopp regrets selling Coutinho to Barca in 2018: 'I'd never have made it'
- Liverpool coach regrets parting ways with Philippe.
- However, the offer from Barcelona was 'undeniable'.
- The Reds could not allow keeping Coutinho at that moment.
Speaking after being named the Manager of the Year by a reputable German outlet Sport Bild, Jurgen opened up on Coutinho's transfer from Barcelona to Bayern Munich and admitted Liverpool received an offer they could not refuse.
Gianluca Di Marzio quotes the Reds' boss as saying: "[Coutinho is] a player of absolute substance. I had him at Liverpool and I would never have sold him if I wasn't forced to. The offer was undeniable to us, it seemed strange, we couldn't allow ourselves to hold him back."
No one would deny Coutinho's obvious talent but Liverpool remained on the winning side after Philippe's exit. Since January 2018, they have brought in the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Alisson, Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri and have won two trophies. Just to remind, Coutinho finished his struggles at Barca and will try to reignite his career in Bundesliga.
