Marca: Rakitic won't leave Barca this summer
- Moreover, the Croatian has never been close to a potential exit.
- The offers from Manchester United, Juventus and PSG have all been declined.
- Rakitic could even last at Barca until his contract expires in 2021.
According to Madrid-based Marca, the future of Ivan Rakitic is settled. The Croatian won't leave Barcelona despite the Catalans' abundance in the midfield and the club's necessity to balance the books.
Marca believe Rakitic has never even been close to a potential departure. The message from the player and Ernesto Valverde, his greatest defender, has been clear during the whole summer. The Croatian has made it clear several times that he wants to continue at Barcelona.
Marca believe Rakitic could even stay at Barcelona until his contract expires in 2021. He will be 33 years old at that time. It remains to be seen whether the Catalans will let the experienced midfielder leave for free.
Barcelona have an abundance in the midfield zone. The arrival of Frenkie de Jong, the rise of Arthur and last year's promotion of Carles Alena may limit Rakitic's playing time. Moreover, Sergi Roberto has been moved forward to the midfield as well.
Still, Marca believe Rakitic is too important for both the club and the coach. He is one of the most-used Blaugrana players. Rakitic appeared in the second half of the Bilbao match last week and proved his worth: he attempted two shots and won two aerial duels.
