Wonder kid Fati can make history against Betis
- The 16-year-old has just received his maiden call-up for the first team.
- He can become the Catalans' second-youngest player to feature in La Liga.
- Earlier this week, he has been used in Leo Messi's position.
Boom! 16-year-old Ansu Fati receives his debut call-up for the Barcelona senior team! The promising attacker is included in the matchday squad against Real Betis after having been training with the first team during the course of the week.
If Fati manages to make his Barcelona debut this Sunday, he will definitely enter the Blaugrana history books. At the age of 16 years and 297 days, he could become the second-youngest player to feature in a league game for the Catalan giants.
By the way, the all-time record is kept for almost 78 years. Back in 1941, Vicente Martinez Alama became the youngest Blaugrana to play in La Liga. He was just 17 days older than Fati is now.
Who is Ansu Fati? During this week's sessions, he was used in Leo Messi's position. Unfortunately, the Argentinean hasn't recovered from a calf injury as he reportedly suffered some discomfort. That's why he is not included in the squad to face Betis.
Last month, Ansu signed his new contract at Barca with an impressive release clause of €100m. This was partially done due to Manchester United's long-term interest in the winger.
Ansu is considered to be one of the top La Masia prospects. The winger managed to become the best league scorer (15) playing at Juvenil A last season. What's more, two of Ansu's goals helped his team equalize against Chelsea in the UEFA Youth League semifinals.
