Twente boss surprised by Busquets' transfer
- Gonzalo Garcia is ready to welcome the promising midfielder on a season-long loan deal.
- He says: "Of all the interested clubs, we had the least money to spend, so I am surprised by his arrival."
Oriol Busquets is on the verge of joining Eredivisie side Twente on a one-year loan. However, their coach, Gonzalo Garcia, still cannot believe his side have managed to sign a La Masia graduate. He says, as quoted by Voetbal International:
"Of all the interested clubs, we had the least money to spend, so I am surprised by his arrival. Maybe it helps that I am a Spanish trainer and that we already have four Spanish players with Aitor, Espinoza, Matos, Pleguezuelo. Busquets initially comes to FC Twente to further develop. He will have few adjustment problems in terms of language and composition of the dressing room."
Oriol showed glimpses of his undeniable talent during the pre-season tour in Japan. However, the current abundance of the midfielders at Barca makes his potential breakthrough virtually impossible, thus he's likely to be loaned out this month.
Busquets hasn't yet made a single appearance in La Liga. However, he has completed 117 minutes across two games in the Copa del Rey. Moreover, the midfielder has been involved in the UEFA Youth League football as he has made 15 appearances in three seasons.
