Barca flop Boateng scores on Serie A debut
- The Ghana international failed to make an impact during his six-month Blaugrana tenure.
- He only made four appearances for the Catalans.
- Currently at Fiorentina, Boateng scored a powerful volley just four minutes after entering the pitch against Napoli.
Remember Kevin-Prince Boateng? The Ghana international joined Barcelona to strengthen their attacking line this January. Luckily for both sides, it was only a loan deal. During his Blaugrana tenure, Boateng was mostly nursing his knee injuries.
In total, the 32-year-old made only four first-team appearances for the Catalans and never managed to score. No wonder the club didn't extend his loan deal and Boateng left for Fiorentina for just one million euros.
Surprisingly, Boateng managed to prove his worth just FOUR minutes after entering the pitch in Fiorentina's Serie A opening fixture. The Ghana international was subbed on in 61st minute and scored a powerful volley in the 65th minute.
Boateng's goal made the scoreline 3-3 as Fiorentina played against last season's runner-ups Napoli. Unfortunately for Boateng, the Pantenopei quickly responded with a precise strike. The game resulted in a 4-3 win for Napoli.
Earlier in August, Boateng has revealed the best memories from the Blaugrana tenure. Marca quote him as saying: "It was a truly beautiful experience for me and my life. I lived in Barcelona and played with the best players in the world, even though it was not very satisfying as I played there for just six months. To have the possibility at 32 years old to play with those players was incredible."
He particularly highlights playing with Leo Messi: "And Messi... in the end I can be happy to have played alongside him because when you play against him you always lose. Yes, I'm a bit sad because things did not go as I expected but I can take many positives."
