Fati's father: Madrid offered more money but Barca had a project
- Ansu Fati was wanted by Real Madrid but his family rejected their multi-million bid.
- His father is now over the moon following his son's first-team debut.
Barcelona new iconic prodigy, Ansu Fati, could have joined Real Madrid instead! That's what his father Bori Fati reveals in an interview with RAC1 right after his son makes his unforgettable first-team debut in the 5-2 Real Betis win.
Fati's dad says: "I had an offer from Madrid which was for a lot of money. But Albert Puig came and told me they were from Barça and had a project. In a few years, I saw what they meant. We knew it would work but we never imagined he would be playing alongside such beasts. Training with Pique.."
Fati's family left native Guinea Bissau for Spain only in 2013 when he was just 10 years old. He soon joined the famous La Masia Academy. Despite a lengthy injury lay-out, Fati became Juvenil A top scorer with 15 goals last season. He impressed in the UEFA Youth League as well with a brace against Chelsea.
Fati enjoyed an impressive 15-minute cameo against Betis on Sunday's night. He fired a shot which went just inches wide. With this debut, Fati has become Barca's youngest player to feature in La Liga since 1941.
