Tuchel: 'If it were up to me, Neymar would have played'
- The German specialist wants his player's future resolved quickly.
- He explicitly blames PSG sporting director Leonardo: 'He knows I want things sorted out and for Neymar to stay.'
- Tuchel even admits it won't be his decision to make whether Neymar is going to feature in the next game against Metz.
Neymar's future is still unresolved as he wasn't included in the PSG matchday squad to face Toulouse on Sunday's night. Previously, their coach Thomas Tuchel insisted he would reintegrate the Brazilian as soon as the situation gets clearer. It wasn't the case, though.
Still, the German specialist is determined to bring Neymar back in the squad as soon as possible. He openly states after Sunday night's Toulouse match that he would have played the Brazilian and wants his future settled quickly.
Diario AS quote Tuchel as saying: "The aim is for this to be over as soon as possible. Unfortunately, that wasn’t today [on Sunday, against Toulouse]. It’s time for him to play."
Tuchel explicitly blames PSG new sporting director Leonardo for not allowing Neymar to play: "Leonardo knows I want things sorted out and for him to stay, but that depends on him. The situation isn’t very clear right now and we need to sort it out. It’s always important for him to play."
When asked whether Neymar could be in the squad for the next game against Metz, Tuchel replies: "Will we see him against Metz in the next game? That’s not just my decision. If it were up to me, he would have played against Toulouse this Sunday."
PSG may be simply forced to make Neymar stay. Their most recent game against Toulouse resulted in a 4-0 win, however, it cost them dearly. The Parisians have now lost BOTH Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani to injuries which have now left them with Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting as the first-team striker.
