Ansu Fati sends proud but humble message following historic Barca debut
- The Bissau-Guinean has become the second-youngest debutant in Barcelona's history.
- The 16-year-old thanks everyone who's made it possible.
- The attacker promises to keep working with his feet on the ground.
On Sunday, Barcelona beat Real Betis 5-2 thanks to a brace from Antoine Griezmann and goals from Carles Perez, Jordi Alba and Arturo Vidal. Another huge positive was the fact that Ansu Fati made his first senior team appearance.
The Bissau-Guinean, who took the pitch as a late substitute, became Barca's second-youngest player (16 years and 298 days) to debut for the Catalans after Vicenc Martinez (16 years and 280 days) back in October 1941. The kid's appearance received a standing ovation from the home crowd.
Thus, Ansu has taken it to Instagram to share feelings over such a remarkable night:
"THANKS TO EVERYONE!! It's a day I will remember all my life.
"The dream of any boy in the Masía: debut at the Camp Nou... Sharing costumes with the best players in the world was an unforgettable experience. I only have words of gratitude to them for their excellent reception.
"Nothing of this would have been possible without my family. Without their daily and unconditional support.
"Thanks also to La Masia, the best soccer school in the world. To my colleagues and coaches who have taught me those values that will always accompany me.
"I promise to continue with humility, work and feet on the ground.
"Visca el Barça!!"
