Sport: Juventus & Barca in talks over last-minute Rakitic move
- The Italians are reportedly interested in signing the Croatian midfielder.
- Juve have been in contact with Barca board, players could be included in the deal.
- The possibility of Ivan's departure has been confirmed by ESPN's Moi Llorens.
- The journalist was one of the first to report Neymar deal was off.
According to Barcelona-based newspaper Diario Sport, Juventus plan to make a final push to sign Ivan Rakitic. Reportedly, the Italians' sporting director Fabio Paratici has been in contact with Barca's board since it became clear that the 21-year-old won't leave for Paris Saint-Germain as part of a deal for Neymar.
The same report claims that the Serie A outfit's last attempt to sign the midfielder could include several players. Namely, Emre Can is the one mentioned, stating that the Catalans might actually be interested in the German.
Allegedly, the negotiations between the clubs have started and the parties could reach an agreement before the transfer window closes tomorrow.
Finally, Rakitic's exit might actually be the best option both for Blaugrana and for the 31-year-old. As a reminder, Ivan hasn't been used too much by Ernesto Valverde. The player was left on the bench in the first match against Athletic Bilbao only to be subbed in the second half. As for the last two league games (Real Betis, Osasuna), the Croatia international didn't play at all.
Furthermore, the information about Rakitic's possible departure has been confirmed by ESPN journalist Moi Llorens. He was one of the first sources to report than Neymar won't come this summer, so there are good reasons to believe him.
"Barca haven't stopped working on the market. Mauro Icardi and Rodrigo Moreno aren't options. We'll see. Rafinha and Rakitic have options to leave," tweeted the journalist.
