Rivaldo on Neymar's failed return: 'Both the player and the club lose'
- The Brazilian wants Neymar to come back.
- Rivaldo also admits both Barca and Neymar lose from the failed transfer.
- Earlier, Rivaldo also said Ney going to Real Madrid wouldn't be a betrayal.
- After a summer-long transfer saga, the 27-year-old is set to stay at PSG.
It's no news that Rivaldo is a big fan of his fellow countryman Neymar. During the summer-long transfer saga, the Blaugrana legend said several times that Ney should return and has even posted an emotional message not so long ago, encouraging the winger to come back and for Barca to push for his transfer.
However, now the saga seems over, as Ney has reportedly informed Paris Saint-Germain that he will be staying, at least for the 2019-20 season. Following the update, Rivaldo once again addressed the forward's situation:
"Neymar should have never left Barcelona, he was wrong," he said.
"Both Barca and the player lose from the failed transfer".
However, Rivaldo earlier said that Neymar joining Barca's biggest rivals Real Madrid instead would also be good:
"That'd be good too. I played for Barcelona and so obviously, I'd like him to join Barcelona but if he ends up going to Real Madrid, that would also be good for the club and for Neymar. But personally, I hope he goes back to Barcelona."
"If Neymar went to Real Madrid it would not be a betrayal. PSG are not going to accept a worse offer from Barcelona for Neymar just because he wants to leave. They will not lose money and would accept the best offer," he warned then.
