La Liga president on Neymar transfer saga: 'There has been more talk than action'
- Barca failed to bring Neymar back to Camp Nou this summer.
- The high wages at the club are seen as one of the reasons behind the failed transfer.
- La Liga's president claims Barca could have resolved the problem.
- "There has been more talk than action," concluded the official.
The hottest topic of the summer, Neymar's transfer saga, is not over. Or, at least, postponed until the next transfer window. For now, however, the Brazilian is set to continue with Paris Saint-Germain.
One of the alleged reasons why a move never happened is the high wages of Barca's players and the salary limit imposed by La Liga. However, the league's president Javier Tebas doesn't buy it:
"Barcelona know they could have resolved their salary problems. There has been more talk than action," said the president in regards to Neymar's situation.
According to the latest reports from Diario Sport, Barcelona tried to include Ousmane Dembele in a swap deal not because of sporting reasons but because of his high wages. Moreover, Ivan Rakitic and Jean-Clair Todibo were also expected to be included in the deal, in addition to the €130m the Catalans planned to offer.
