Sport: Real reason behind Dembele snubbing medicals revealed
- Ousmane suffered an injury during the league opener against Athletic Bilbao.
- Despite the club asking him to show up for a check-up, the player left on holiday.
- His entourage claims the player is sad about his frequent injuries.
- This is the reason Dembele snubbed the medicals.
During Barcelona's league opener against Athletic Bilbao, the cameras spotted Ousmane Dembele touching his left leg and it looked like the Frenchman had pain. Several outlets reported that the 22-year-old had picked up an injury, but there was still no official statement from the club.
As it turns out, the medical staff notices Ous' problems during the game and asked him to show on Saturday (the day after the match) for a medical check-up at the club's facilities. However, Dembele didn't show up and decided to leave on holidays instead.
The fans and, allegedly, the club got mad at the unprofessional behaviour expressed by Ousmane. However, as a recent update from Catalan-based outlet Diario Sport claims, the reason behind Dembele snubbing the medicals is much more down to earth and relatable.
Reportedly, the player's entourage have told Sport that Ousmane is tired of his frequent injuries and didn't want to hear (once again) that he is out for a long period of time. Allegedly, the winger left on holidays hoping that there was nothing serious and it was mere cramps.
Now, the France international is said to be devastated by the news, as he was determined to prove his worth and spend the season without any injuries. As you may remember, Dembele was one of the first players to start training this summer.
