Barca's president agreed to an exclusive interview to BarcaTV. Here are the main takes from it. Josep Maria Bartomeu began with discussing future plans concerning Camp Nou and other construction projects:
"In the coming days, the demolition of the Miniestadi will begin. We will for sure organize an event to commemorate it on September 24. (As a reminder, the B team will now play on the newly-constructed Johan Cruyff stadium)
"The remodelling of the Camp Nou will begin next summer and it will be finished in 2024.
"'Espai' is a project of the club, not of the board. It will begin working on the new Palau Blaugrana in 2020.
"The final price of the new Camp Nou and the new Palau Blaugrana (home to to the basketball, handball, roller hockey, and futsal teams of FC Barcelona) will be about 685 million euros.
"We will hold an extraordinary board meeting to address the topic of new financing. We will use the extra income we from back in 2014 and we believe that we can get more, through new ways.
"The number is now different from the previous one because the costs are different now. We have also increased the ceiling height.
"As far as funding is concerned for Espai Barça, it won't affect the sports area of the club and it will continue to work the same way as it did always.
"We decided not to sign a contract with a company for the naming rights of the stadium because in the future the price may be much higher. There is time to negotiate, a contract like this can have a length of 15 to 20 years."
