Busquets opens up on his retirement plans: 'It depends on how I feel and the confidence of the coach'
- The 31-year-old remains key player for Spain and Barcelona.
- For now, he's fully focused on playing for Furia Roja.
- Busi will see how things pan out after the Euro-2020.
The heart of Barca's midfield, Sergio Busquets, has opened up on his retirement plans shortly after a narrow win over Romania in Euro-2020 qualifiers.
“You keep going year after year,” Busquets admitted. “It depends on how I feel and the confidence of the coach. I am only thinking about this season, to keep working to be better.
“Then there is the European Championship and that is what concerns me. From there, I would not know what to tell you.”
While Spain have the likes of Rodry to step up to the plate in the absence of the 31-year-old midfielder, the statistics show that Barca are winless in the last five matches the Spain international didn't feature: three draws and 2 losses:
Although Busi didn't contribute with much last season (no goals, two assists), he is an integral part of Barca's game.
