Messi: 'Both Mateo and Thiago are now Barca fans'
- Messi loves watching Barca with Thiago and Mateo.
- He reveals that they both are really upset when Barca lose.
- Mateo didn't really celebrate Betis' goal earlier this season, as was reported.
- He saw an earlier moment when the Catalans hit the side-netting and thought it has gone in.
While being injured Leo Messi has had a rare opportunity to watch Barca from the stands with his family. The forward admits that it was one of few bright moments of being sidelined due to fitness issues since both his older sons are now full-blown Barca fans, just like their father.
"I enjoy it [watching Barca] a lot more with them and I have more time to do that in the stands," Leo revealed in the interview with Catalan-based Diario Sport. "It’s beautiful but I prefer to be out on the pitch and being involved as I’ve spent so long on the sidelines."
The only downside is that both Thiago and Mateo are really upset after Barca had a tough game:
"They suffer. Especially Thiago, as he understands it a little more. Mateo was angry when I said he supported another team and not Barcelona. It was the same when they said he celebrated Betis’ goal. It wasn’t true. It was one of our attacks that hit the side netting and he thought it had gone in. He’s beginning to understand what it means when we lose and what it means for me and the team."
In any case, both of Messi sons sincerely support Barcelona:
"Yes, both of them. Neither likes to lose at anything. They’re very competitive. When they lose, they suffer too."
Earlier, Leo revealed some complexities of Mateo's character which include some brutal trolling.
"My children and I played football at home and Mateo told me he was Liverpool because they beat me in the Champions League. And the same for Valencia.
"Mateo looks at me and challenges me, he has the face of a son of a bit*h... Ciro looks the same.
"At home when everybody is watching football together, Mateo will celebrate Real Madrid goals to p*ss off his brother."
