Pep hints that Barca-linked coach Gallardo is among the best 3 coaches in the world
- Argentinian outlet TNT Sports claim Gallardo is the first in line to replace Valverde at Barca.
- Gallardo has won 10 trophies with River Plate and is on the course of his second consecutive Copa Libertadores final.
- Guardiola is in awe with the Argentine, saying he deserves to be among the best 3 coaches in the world.
Talking to Argentinian outlet TNT Sports, current Manchester City coach and legendary Barca figure Pep Guardiola was full of praise for Marcelo Gallardo, who is said to be the first name on Barca's list in case Ernesto Valverde is dismissed.
"What Gallardo has done with River is incredible," Guardiola told TNT Sports.
"Some things are inexplicable. Every year three coaches are named as the best in the world, and he's never among them. I can't understand it. It's as if there's nothing else in the world apart from Europe."
Gallardo's deal at River Plate lasts until 2021. Besides, he has recently committed to the club by signing a new contract. Thus, it won't be easy for the Catalans to bring Gallardo at Camp Nou.
The Argentinian has been coaching River Plate for five years now. Under his guidance, the Millionaires have won 10 trophies as Gallardo is now considered as one of the best coaches in the club's history.
The 43-year-old is currently on his way to secure his second consecutive Copa Libertadores final after winning the competition a year ago.
Following TNT Sports' claims that Barca had contacted Gallardo, a club's representative reportedly contacted Diario Sport to confirm that there have been no talks between the parties.
