Fati, injuries & more: 4 alleged reasons Barca may give up Neymar pursuit
- Barca tried to sign Ney over the summer and could make another attempt in the future.
- However, the club now doubts signing the Brazilian is a good idea.
- It could spoil Fati's development, as they prefer playing in the same position.
- Besides, Ney has been struggling with injuries.
- Barca need to focus on buying a striker first.
- Not everyone at the club wants Neymar back so signing him would be a risky move ahead of the elections.
The Neymar transfer saga has been the most talked-about topic of the last summer. However, it seems like Barca could once and for all quit the race, according to Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo, and there are at least four reasons for that.
The 16-year-old is one of the most promising youngsters in the world, and Ney's arrival could significantly hinder his development. Fati prefers playing on the left side, just like the Brazilian. In case the 27-year-old returns to Camp Nou, he would clearly leave Ansu with less playing time. Besides, Blaugrana already have Ousmane Dembele and Antoine Griezmann that can cover the same spot.
Barca need a striker
The same source suggests that the club's primary goal for the next summer is going to be a centre-forward. With Luis Suarez advancing in age, Barca have allegedly already started looking at options on the market. Neymar, clearly, isn't a striker, so his signing wouldn't be regarded as a top priority.
The forward picked yet another injury during the international break. Ever since leaving Camp Nou, Ney has been dealing with a streak of bad luck. In total, he has missed 40 games for Paris Saint-Germain, including important ones like the Champions League clash against Manchester United. As current reports suggest, the Brazil international is set to miss another six games due to his most recent injury.
Risky political move
Barcelona have presidential and board elections planned for January 2021 and the next summer transfer window is going to be the last chance for the current board to convince the club members of they deserve to continue for another term. However, not everyone within the club approves of the signing, which makes Neymar's arrival less probable.
