Denis Suarez advises Alena to leave Camp Nou as midfielder struggles for minutes
- Alena has only played 45 minutes this season and rarely even makes the bench.
- Denis reckons that every player wants to play and to do so Carles need to leave Barcelona.
- However, this can also not work out for Alena, so it's his choice, Suarez concludes.
- Since leaving Barcelona this summer Denis has been a regular for Celta, starting every game.
Former Barcelona man Denis Suarez has been like a new player ever since leaving Barcelona back in the summer and joining Celta. The Galician advises Barca outcast Carles Alena to do the same if he wants to develop and thrive.
"Alena is young and he is not getting the minutes he would have hoped for, [Barca] are a club with lots of talent and they have the most quality right there in the middle," Denis told Goal.
"There are a lot of talented players, so he will have to make his decision, whether he gambles on staying or looks for a way out with a transfer or loan.
"I know what it's like to go a whole season without playing and it's not a good feeling. Every player wants to play and I know what it's like to do that every weekend, even if things aren't going right it makes me happy.
"He is the one who has to decide but I would tell him that Barca is not everything in football, he could leave, do great and then come back. Or maybe the opposite, he could stay, start playing and win his place. You never know."
Carles Alena, who only made one Barcelona appearance this season, in the first game of the season against Bilbao, has been once again left out of the squad for the Catalans' clash against Celta. It looks like with Valverde in charge the youngster hardly has a chance to feature for Barca outside of Copa del Rey clashes.
Despite his chances being limited, Denis produced a number of highlights in the Blaugrana shirt:
As for Denis, he is almost certain to start as the Galicians come to the Camp Nou on Saturday night. On 30 June 2019, the 25-year-old signed a four-year deal with Celta Vigo for a €16m fee. Mainly deployed on the left win, Suarez has taken part in each of Celta' 12 La Liga games this season so far, collecting one goal and one assist. Celestes, however, sit in 18th ahead of their visit to Barca.
Suarez joined Barca from Villarreal in the summer of 2016. The 25-year-old made 71 appearances for the Blaugrana, scoring 8 goals, before moving to Arsenal on loan in January 2019. The midfielder's trip to the Premier League turned out to be a complete disaster as he only played 95 minutes in half a year there due to constant injury problems.
