Earlier on, several sources reported that Leo Messi was the winner of the award and had already been informed by France Football, the newspaper that gives away the award.
Most recently, an anonymous source on Twitter 'leaked' the final result of the voting. As the list shows, Leo Messi sits in the first place with 446 points. Liverpool's Virgil Van Dijk is the runner-up with 382 points and Mohamed Salah completes the top 3 with 179 points. Messi's career-long rival Cristiano Ronaldo finishes in the fourth position with 133 points.
