- Most recent leaks indicate it is going to be Leo Messi who claims the 2019 Ballon d'Or.
Virgil van Dijk remains upbeat ahead of tonight's Ballon d'Or gala, claiming that there won't be any losers on Monday - being nominated, taking part in such a glorious event is kind of a win in itself.
"I am going to have a look at what it is about. I am going to be there for a reason and there are no losers on the evening," Lionel Messi 's main Ballon d'Or rival said as quoted by Goal.
"I am very proud to be in that bracket, to be in there for the way I performed with the team last year and also with the country.
"It is just something to be proud of because not a lot of players go there and are up for this kind of things.
"There’s going to be a winner but there are no losers. We will see what happens."
Well, various reports suggest that what happens is that, happily for FC Barcelona Lionel Messi will lift the award after all. Recently 'leaked' rankings even saw the Argentine finishing 64 points ahead of his main rival.
