Setien: 'My aim is to win everything: La Liga, CL and Copa'
- The manager is ready to meet all Barca's season goals.
- The 62-year-old also vows to strictly follow his football philosophy and play possession-based football.
- This day is very special for Setien because it's the fulfilment of his wildest dreams.
- 'Yesterday I was walking with cows in the village and today I am training the best players in the world,' Quique says.
Quique Setien has officially taken over at the Camp Nou stadium! The 61-year-old put pen to paper on a two-and-half-a-year deal on Tuesday afternoon.
The coach has also addressed the public and the media with a clear message: he aims to win everything with the Catalans.
"My aim is to win everything: La Liga, the Champions League and the Copa," Setien said.
"I am a person of convictions, I marked a way of life and so will I continue. I have very clear ideas, I listen to everyone but it's difficult to get the things that I am convinced of out of my head.
"I will be training the best player in the world, Messi... I'm still not fully aware of what I'm experiencing. Yesterday I was walking with cows in the village and today I am training the best players in the world..."
"I wouldn't have imagined being here in my best dreams. It's a very special day for me."
Quique took charge of his first session as Barcelona coach on Tuesday morning, before putting pen to paper on the contract.
Setien has been reportedly chosen due to his coaching philosophy and Johan Cruyff's values. His football is based on the famous 'tiki-taka' playing style which is strongly associated with Pep Guardiola's Barcelona.
The 61-year-old worked at Betis between 2017 and 2019. The Verdiblancos finished sixth on his debut season in charge which was their best result since 2005.
