Buffon is to make Ligue 1 debut
- The Juventus legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has accepted the new challenge from the French side this summer
- He will make his official debut in the first leg of the League 1
Gianluigi Buffon is in the Paris Saint-Germain's starting XI to make his first appearance in the league for the new club, as the team hosts SM Caen at the Parc des Princes.
In total it will be Buffon's second competitive appearance as he defended the goal in PSG's 4-0 Super Cup Trophee des Champions win over Monaco on August 4.
The French side manager Thomas Tuchel has not revealed who will be his first-choice in goal for a long time, but today Buffon's competitor, Alphonse Areola is not even in the squad. He is missing the game alongside Kylian Mbappé, Presnel Kimpembe, Marco Verratti, Layvin Kurzawa and Edinson Cavani.
It means Gianluigi Buffon's only competitor is Kevin Trapp, so the 40-year-old occupies the place between the sticks for at least this match.
