- Juve eye move for Ajax defender De Ligt
- The Dutch side want at least €50m for their star centre-back
Ajax captain and Juventus target, Matthijs de Ligt hints at a possibility of changing the scenery as he doesn't feel motivated enough by playing in the Eredivisie where the opponents are much easier to beat.
The powerful defender explains his situation in an interview with FOX Sports after his side easily dismantled local minnows Excelsior with an impressive 7-1 scoreline.
De Ligt says: 'To be honest, we didn't play at 100% but we won 7-1. The difference between the sides in the Eredivisie right now is huge. The tension is less each time as there are only two teams who are racking up the points. If we keep winning it won't be a problem but we have to admit that it's less fun.'
He also admits he prefers playing in the more competitive Champions League: 'In the Champions League you feel valued. You have to give everything and those feelings are hard to find in the Eredivisie. There's a lot more competition.'
Currently, Transfermarkt evaluates De Light at €50 million while De Jong costs a fifth less – €40 million, which is also a pretty solid sum even judging by the standards of modern football prices.
