Cancelo has recently sprang back into action one month after an operation on the meniscus in his right knee, wearing and tearing AC Milan during the Coppa Italia clash in Saudi Arabia. The 24-year-old played with an incredible pace and energy as if he's never had an injury.
Most importantly, ex-Internazionale defender picked up his first trophy as Juventus player but doesn't seem to be content with only that as he eyes to further build upon his success at the Old Lady.
Of particular note is Cancelo's synergy with fellow full-back, Alex Sandro - the duo form the he best pairs of full-backs in world football, and here's what ex-Valencia defender Cancelo had to say on this:
“Alex is an excellent player – he’s one of the best left-backs in the world. I saw him play when he was at Porto, and I was at Benfica. I’ve always admired him and I’m honoured to play in the same team as him,” the defender explains.
Even though the 24-year-old has already established himself as a vital part of Juve's team, he admits he needs to grow even further:
“I know I need to improve in the defensive phase. I’m more geared towards attacking but I’m here to learn – thanks to my team-mates and the coach I can do so from the best. Each day I’m assimilating the movements required of me and gaining confidence in the role.”
Cancelo, finally, opens up on crucial Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid which is set to take place in February:
“They seem more like an Italian team than a Spanish one. They’re a very physical, compact side and have players with real quality. They’re very strong defensively and they will be two tough games,” he said
