Ex-Chelsea player backs Gonzalo Higuain to become a vital signing
- The Argentinian failed to impress in Chelsea's defeat to Bournemouth this Wednesday
- Joe Cole, Chelsea's ex-midfielder believes Gonzalo is the one to fit in Chelsea well
- He's confident the 31-year-old Juventus player will soon adapt to the Premier League.
While El Pipito had his second outing for his new club on Wednesday in the 4-0 routing at the hands of Bournemouth it was hardly a memorable occasion for all parties involved - Gonzalo failed to make an impact for the Blues and was subbed in the 65th minute.
I don’t think a lot of people understand how bad the situation at Chelsea could get between now and the summer, who let sari sign higuain instead of someone like Werner or piatek? #cfc— teej (@Tom_Jenkins8) January 31, 2019
Even though ex-Juventus player hasn't been impressive so far, ex-Blue Joe Cole is absolutely sure Chelsea were right to sign Pipito.
"It’s a very logical signing. Chelsea were playing with a false nine and they needed a number nine and he is just that – he’s a goalscorer. It’s what they need and it’s what Higuain needs, so it suits everybody involved."
The Englishman believes it won't take long for the newcomer to adapt as the manager knows him well: "And he has played for some big clubs, so it shouldn’t be a problem. It will just be how quickly he settles in, but the great thing is Sarri knows him, knows what he’s about as a person and he knows the system. So it ticks boxes."

While Higuain scored only 8 goals during his five months at AC Milan, Sarri backs Gonzalo for fast adaptation at the new league:
"It's not easy to adapt. In this championship, the Premier League, it's so difficult. It's not easy, but I think he has the right experience. He is a very great player, so he has to run, to adapt in a few matches."
