Jurgen Klopp reveals which was Mohamed Salah's game-changing moment
In October, the Liverpool striker scored the late match-winning penalty that sent Egypt to their first World Cup in 28 years. Klopp believes this moment changed everything for his star.
“The best thing was how Egypt celebrated getting the penalty. I’ve never seen that in my life. Germany in 1990 didn’t celebrate winning the World Cup like this. And they only got the penalty – then they thought ‘Someone actually has to shoot’. That was real pressure.”
Klopp also added: “I nearly had a heart attack” as he was watching the match on TV.
Still, the striker has to improve a bit his penalty records. Three weeks after his Egypt winner, Salah had his shot from the spot saved by Huddersfield goalkeeper Jonas Lossl. However, Klopp is fine with his penalty troubles.
“That was not too good. But we all have these game-changer moments in our life and maybe that was one of his. If you deliver in a situation like this, this is what can happen to you."
Should Salah be trusted with the penalties?
