Rodrigo Calvozzo raise doubts over Alisson's fee: He has never really been the preferred number one choice from Brazilians
- Goal assistant editor Calvozzo states people in Brazil were shocked on finding out how much LFC spent on the goalkeeper, who had been a backup option during his time at Gremio
“It's a surprise for us, a big surprise. Alisson has never really been the preferred number one choice from Brazilians within his own country.
“Here we have Marcelo Grohe from Gremio and he was playing for them at the same time that Alisson was playing across town at their big rivals, Internacional (both hail from the city of Porto Alegre).
“Grohe was the people's choice to be Brazil's goalkeeper but Alisson went to Roma and Grohe (who is now 31) is still at Gremio.”
“Many Brazilian people are wondering why Liverpool are spending so much money on a goalkeeper and on Alisson, it seems strange to them. We talk to fans overseas on the internet and say 'wow, Liverpool must have a lot of money!' This isn't normal for a goalkeeper and not for Alisson.
“You saw what he did in the World Cup, he was fine but he was not wonderful. We understand Loris Karius had a problem in the Champions League final so it's okay and Liverpool need a goalkeeper but it's strange.”
