Rodrigo Calvozzo: Firmino should have been given more chances at the World Cup
- Firmino wasn't a famous player during his days in Brazil, the Goal assistant editor says
- Head coach Tite should have put more trust in Bobby
“Firmino played for Figueirense who are a medium-to-small sized club, sometimes in Serie A in Brazil, sometimes in Serie B. He went to Hoffenheim and they were saying 'we have a Brazilian here playing very well' and we were thinking 'who is Firmino, nobody knows' but now he's playing well.
“We were very disappointed with Gabriel Jesus at the World Cup, more than Neymar. He probably played the worst of all the players when you consider what was expected of them but it's understandable to a point because he's still young and there was a lot of pressure on him.
“Jesus did well in the qualifiers but during the finals themselves, I think Firmino should have have been given more chances.”
