Jurgen Klopp: Only the season will show what we're worth of
- The boss claims only after the upcoming campaign could answer the question about the strength of his squad
- Millie is in high spirits despite getting 15 stitches on his face following a collision vs the Napoli player
LFC demolished Napoli 5-0. Klopp was asked after the game if this was the strongest squad he'd had since he arrived at Liverpool:
"Hopefully, but we will know that after the season because how strong the squad is, the season will show and not the transfers or whatever, or the price you paid, or the money value of the squad. It's only about the football and that's what we have to do.
"We have to show day in and day out in the next few weeks and you will always have difficult situations like we had today. James Milner played a brilliant game before going off with a crazy cut. [He's had] a lot of stitches, 15, and you don't want that in that position in your face.
"But then he is quite positive about it, but probably nobody showed him the mirror so far! Hopefully, it will be good and that's very important. It's not about celebrating the moment, it's about working for the big moments."
The last time we played Napoli, Steven Gerrard came off the bench at half-time with us 1-0 down. He then scored a hat trick to carry Roy Hodgson's Liverpool side to a 3-1 victory. This man was something else at the peak of his powers. #lfc pic.twitter.com/QfJRLRDVPD— Mik (@MikLFC) August 4, 2018
