Sky Sports: Keita-style deal for Pulisic is unlikely
- Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge reckons Liverpool will face a lot of competition should Dortmund decide to sell Pulisic as he is in high demand across Europe
Speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast, he explained: “Keita had the £48million release clause which kicked in this summer and Liverpool paid a premium on that to secure him.
“Leipzig were destined to lose him anyway, but Dortmund aren’t in that position with Pulisic. He is some player. You’d imagine him having interest from all the top European clubs. But, Jurgen Klopp absolutely gets a player when he likes them.”
German football expert Raphael Honigstein has suggested earlier this week that LFC could try to secure a deal on the 19-year-old Dortmund star similar to the one they had with Leipzig over Naby Keita. The midfielder joined the Merseyside club 1 year after a deal had been signed:
"I think Liverpool, who have been very smart in recent years, could do almost 'a Keita' and say, you know what, next summer, Dortmund have to sell you. Why don't you come to us then? We'll do a do a deal now... of course it's not strictly legal (laugh) so you have to keep it quiet, but it's being done all the time in football, and that's a very realistic scenario."
