Wijnaldum: 'We have to control our results and performances'
- The midfielder is delighted with a 3-0 win over Bournemouth.
- He claims the Reds have to give 100% in every single game to keep momentum and beat City to a title.
“It is always a good response when you win. Three goals and a clean sheet makes it even better,” Gini said after the match. “We must make sure we respond every game, not just one game. It is difficult [competing with City] but we already knew from the beginning that it would be difficult.
“We have to control our results and performances. We have to give everything in every game and in the end see where we are. You could see at the beginning of the season we have improved. We just have to keep it going.”
Wijnaldum was bright, lively, solid in the midfield to the extent one could hardly guess the pain and hardships the 28-year-old had to go through both before and during the game.
"He had diarrhoea and vomiting two nights earlier so couldn't come to the team hotel," said Jurgen Klopp shortly after the final whistle which saw Liverpool collect the long-awaited three-points. "He had pretty much everything you don't want to have two nights before a game. Then he said, after a couple of hours sleep, 'I feel good, I can play'."
