Adekanye sends Liverpool a heartfelt goodbye message
- Bobby Adekanye's contract is about to expire.
- The young talent is rumoured to join Serie A side Lazio.
- And now Bobby sends a message to the fans and Liverpool staff via his Twitter.
"Four years ago when I arrived at Liverpool I was still a child. Now I leave as a man and I take with me a new family which I'll feel is mine forever.
"It's not easy finding the right words for thanking everything Liverpool FC has given to me these years.
"To every coach I had in Academy and Melwood, to every team-mate I shared good moments with, to every employee who was always by my side, thanks a lot.
"I don't know how or when but I'm sure we'll meet again someday. Stand by with me on June 1. I'll be one more helping the team to win the Champions League final. #YNWA."
Earlier Football Insider reported that Liverpool forward Bobby Adekanye is set to quit the Reds after being offered a contract from the Serie A side Lazio that triples his salary at Anfield.
Adekanye, 20, was offered a three-year-long deal by Liverpool but rejected it. A Lazio source claims the Italians tabled a five-year deal that is worth around £17,000-a-week before tax. This is triple what Bobby earns at Liverpool.
Nigerian-born Dutchman joined the Reds from Barcelona in the summer of 2015. After he failed to get to the senior squad he spoke openly about his desire to leave Anfield and look for game time elsewhere.
After he rejected a deal offer from Liverpool, Adekanye has been reportedly frozen out of the Reds U23s.
Besides Lazio, Dutch top flight Willem II have also been linked with Adekanye.
