Liverpool will lose €25 million if Barca sell Coutinho
- Barca have already paid €135m for Coutinho.
- €120m of fixed price + €15m bonus for 25 games and UCL qualifications.
- There are €25m left to pay.
- €5m for playing 100 matches and €20m for winning the Champions League.
Barcelona signed Philippe Coutinho last winter paying a sensational sum of €120m for the player. The deal with Liverpool also includes the €40m in variables.
Barca have already paid €15m for the player:
• €5m for 25 games that Coutinho has played for our club.
• €5m for each of the two Champions League qualifications in 2018 and 2019.
Now, Barcelona could avoid paying the outstanding €25m if they sold the player in the coming summer. The remaining variables include €20m for winning the Champions League title and €5m for 100 games that Coutinho is yet to reach.
The Brazilian has already made 74 appearances for Barcelona over the course of the last two seasons.
Here are the player's 2018/19 stats:
Some people still believe that Coutinho needs to come back to Liverpool. Maybe, considering the financial loss the club will suffer in case of his departure from the Catalan club, it would be good to have him back?
Former Liverpool manager Phil Thompson believes Phil Coutinho would be welcomed back.
Thompson insists that Barca don't love him like Liverpool did. And if Coutinho wants to come back the only opportunity is now:
"I would take him back in a heartbeat, but it would have to be now. You don't want to leave it another 12 months, I think he still has the ability.
"He's suffered at Barcelona. We've seen him playing out wide on the left, but he's not Neymar.
"He likes to be in the middle where he can pull strings and is getting on the ball to hurt teams.
"He doesn't do that and he's not a left-winger and that's where he's playing at Barcelona; they don't love him like Liverpool loved him."
