Revealed: Why Reds fans invaded the pitch after 6-0 vs Tranmere
The Reds' 6-0 win over Tranmere Rovers looked great but still, you don't normally expect a pitch invasion after a pre-season friendly. However, that's just what happened after referee Mike Dean whistled the full time at Prenton Park.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the whole invasion was about only one Liverpool player.
Nathaniel Clyne, Rhian Brewster, Curtis Jones, Divock Origi and Bobby Duncan were on target but the Reds supporters headed for one particular goalscorer - Divock Origi.
Origi signed a new deal with the Reds immediately on arrival to Melwood. In the second half, Origi captained the Reds. Having received a pass from Joel Matip, Origi rounded Tranmere shot-stopper Scott Davies and scored the 5th goal.
The fans could not hide their feelings and mobbed Origi after the final whistle. The Tranmere PA announcer tried to stop them saying: "It's not big and it's not clever." The love for Origi is definitely big and even if it's not clever, we don't care for a second.
