Klopp sends inspiring message to fans ahead of another City rivalry
- Man City are the undeniable favourites of PL title race, as per Klopp.
- However, the team are ready to withstand the rivalry as they are 'built to be successful'.
- 'If we are around them we will beat them'.
- He also assures CL won't be sacrificed not because he's 'not good enough to decide that'.
Klopp faces a challenge of utmost complexity ahead of the new Premier League campaign. Reds are to compete in 6 competitions, while Man City seem to have bulked up even more. Moreover, Klopp's side will certainly have to endure the burden of high expectations during the season.
Klopp continues to consider Man City to be front-runners in the Premier League title race. However, Klopp is adamant the team are ready to both withstand the pressure and prevail in the rivalry, as they are 'built to be successful'.
During a pre-Super Cup conference, he said: "We won one competition last season. This team is built to be successful and that’s what tomorrow we will try to do. With a bit more luck against City we could have won it. Now we have to prove it again.
"The favourite for the Premier League is pretty clear. We will try to be around them and if we are around them we will beat them."
Given far from limitless squad depth at Klopp's disposal he most certainly will have to get his priorities straight, as some competitions are to be sacrificed. However, when asked whether Champions League is among these competitions he said:
"Unfortunately, I am not good enough to decide that. I have to take what I can get, so that is how it is. We didn’t decide last year to go for the Champions League and ignore the Premier League. We just try to win the next football game and that is tomorrow night and that is difficult enough.
"I am not genius, but thankfully last year I could get something and we celebrated and now let’s carry on."
