Liverpool approach potential new commercial director with €200m budget offer - and receive rejection
- Liverpool are searching for a new commercial director.
- They approached Bologna's Christofer Winterling with an offer that included €200 million budget for business purposes.
- The German declined the offer willing to further the development of his current club.
Corriere dello Sport (cited by Sport Witness) report that Liverpool approached Christoph Winterling, the commercial and marketing director at FC Bologna in Serie A, with an offer to take over at LFC in a similar position.
The report suggests that the budget FSG proposed for commercial and business purposes was at around €200 million. The German, however, refused the offer.
The outlet claims that the decision had nothing to with Liverpool itself nor with the said budget. Christoph simply felt quite satisfied with his current position and believes Bologna have a bright future that he's willing to help to build.
Liverpool's choice of the potential commercial director was no coincidence, as under Winterling's guidance the Bologna has been thriving in areas of his professional competence, significantly growing financially in recent years and approaching the level of such Italian giants as Inter and Milan.
The Reds are still in search of a new commercial director after they parted ways with Olly Dale, the previous one, earlier this summer.
