Lawro: 'Liverpool will win the league this year and they've shown us why in past few weeks'
- The Anfield legend believes the Reds seem capable of any problem opponents give them.
- The iconic centre-back claims City are not at the same high level as last season.
- The 62-year-old expects Liverpool to beat City and go 9 points clear.
Liverpool are set to play against their main Premier League rivals Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday within Matchday 12. Mark Lawrenson has shared expectations ahead of the clash.
"I think Liverpool will win the league this year and they have shown us why in the past few weeks," the 62-year-old wrote in his BBC column. "If anyone gives them a problem they just seem to know how to solve it.
"I just don't think City are at the same high level as last season. Part of that is down to injuries but, even with largely the same players, there does not quite seem to be the same feeling about the team.
"City did a good job of stopping Liverpool playing the last time they came to Anfield, a 0-0 draw in October 2018, and I cannot see them coming out and playing really open this time either.
"Liverpool go nine points clear if they win, which is a lot. That is what I think will happen too."
Lawro's prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Manchester City
The clash is going to be a huge one for both sides as there's only a six-point gap between them at the moment. Jurgen Klopp's men have enjoyed a better start to the domestic campaign than the Citizens. Liverpool are on top of the standings with 31 points and have only failed to beat their opponents once drawing 1-1 against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
