One episode from Napoli clash proving Salah is all but diver

17 days ago , Artem Zakharchenko

  • Mo survived a fierce battle against Koulibaly on Wednesday.
  • Napoli's defender nearly tore Salah's head off as he tried to prevent the Egyptian from receiving the ball.
  • However, Mo somehow stayed on his feet and tried to create an opportunity.
  • As if it needs saying, the penalty wasn't given.

The number of bad decisions and unfair calls the referee gave throughout the Napoli clash on Wednesday, the number of times Napoli's players were allowed to do whatever they please during the duels would make Martin Atkinson jealous.

And here's another proof of how horrendous Carlos de Cerro Grande's refereeing was during the game - and another reason why Mohamed Salah is all but a diver.

70 minutes into the standoff with Liverpool still seeking for a winner, the Egyptian received a ball in Napoli's penalty box. Although, he was practically manhandled by Kalidou Koulibaly as Napoli's defender nearly tore Mo's head off.

There was more than enough contact for the referee to award a penalty. And if Salah fell down - that probably would have been the case. But Mo stayed on his feet and continued fighting for the ball.

He even shook off Koulibaly eventually, however, his determination didn't pay off - the episode ended up with nothing and, of course, the penalty wasn't called.

Perhaps, this episode is a sheer illustration of why players tend to go down and even dive in the box - honesty simply isn't worth it for as long as the referee is blind.

In the end, Liverpool managed to get only 1 point out of this bizarre and, to be fair, quite an awful game and now face a challenge of beating RB Salzburg in an away clash. Should we wish to progress from the first place, we'll have to bag 3 points.

Alison credibility, dependancy, n keeping the post well is now becoming the thing of the past. Alison must up his game to the desired standard. Goals he is now conceiving are very much undesirable. Alison is letting us done alot. Last season he did save us alot. Why can't he now keep clean sheets again. Becker please up your game. YNWA

Alisson Becker AB1 is well okay and there's nothing wrong with him and don't panic. Overreaction. YNWA.

Love is blind. Referee's love for Napoli hindered him from seeing Koulibaly's pull on Salah. That was a penalty.

It has got to be the worse refereeing performance of the season especially the first half.We weren't at our best and to top it off VAR got it wrong again. How could they not see Mertens deliberately go into VVD with his elbow.Just mind blowing.
