United's ex-goalkeeper Bailey insists De Gea should be benched for the remaining games

1 year ago, Fedor Gavrilov

  • The Spaniard has conceded 50 goals in the Premier League since the start of the season.
  • Gary Bailey is convinced Sergio Romero should be placed between the sticks for the upcoming games.
  • United's no. 1 is reportedly 'frustrated' at the lack of progress in his new deal negotiations.
  • He is believed to be demanding £350,000-a-week in order to stay at Old Trafford.

David De Gea's dip in form has been one of the many problems in United's recent shocking defeats. Of course, the club's poor defence might be the reason for the goalkeeper's struggles but he is still the one to blame for the blunders against Barcelona and other clubs. The Red Devils' former goalie is absolutely sure Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should drop De Gea:

"De Gea has been an absolutely amazing keeper for United, but perhaps time now to give him a rest and let him rediscover his mojo... we have a more than capable replacement in Argentinan international Sergio Romero."

The 28-year-old's contract expires in 2020 and he is reportedly 'frustrated' at the lack of movement in the new deal negotiations. De Gea is believed to be demanding £350,000-a-week while the club are not ready to make him the highest-paid goalie in the world. Jan Oblak is allegedly the club's main priority if the Spaniard decides to leave Old Trafford.

This season De Gea has kept only seven clean sheets in the Premier League (18 last year), conceded 50 goals (28 last year) and made two errors leading to goals (0 last year). Moreover, United's no. 1 has conceded eight goals from outside the box which is almost three times more than in the 2017/18 campaign.

If we sort the defence out in the summer to a high standard I don't think we will miss De Gea to much to be honest. We all know what Sergio Romero can do. Plus we have Dean Henderson on loan at Sheffield United who has been bossing it. He definitely could be England's no.1 at some point. Oh and there's Grant 😂. but we ain't in bad situation keeper wise. Just a shame we are piss poor in every other department
