Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac responds to Jerome Boateng to Man United link
- Breaking news on Sunday: Man United contacted Bayern over the central defender
- Kovac causes no stir with his comments
''Regarding Jerome, there's nothing new,' Kovac said at his post-match press conference after beating Man United 1-0. He added: ''Jerome has played a really good match today when he came in. I am happy about him being with us again. Not only him but also the others.''
Jose Mourinho was asked about Jerome Boateng, who turns 30 next month, in particular before the Sunday's game in Germany. The head coach preferred to use the opportunity to regret the quality of his squad compared to what the Premier League rivals have at their disposal with the transfer window nearing its completion.
Boateng, who made 24 appearances for Man City in season 2010-11, has three more years left on his Bayern Munich contract. However, after having won everything there is with the club, he admitted not long ago that it may be the right time to try something new. He is one of the names said to improve Man United's defence along with Harry Maguire and Toby Alderweireld.
Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told BILD two months ago: "If a club comes to us and he says that he wants to join that club, then we will negotiate. But the offer has to be important.''
Do you believe signing ANY defender will change something about our game?
