Guardian: Man United reportedly to appoint director of football
- Manchester United are set to appoint the first director of football in their history
The Guardian claim that the director of football will be appointed at Man United as soon as the current restructure of the club and expansion of facilities are complete.
It is understood that the change in the club's policy is caused by Jose Mourinho's frustrating summer transfer window.
The Portuguese insisted he and his contemporaries should be called "head coaches" as opposed to "managers" ahead of Friday's Premier League opener against Leicester City (1-0).
"I had my plans for many months and I find myself with the market closed in a situation I did not think I would be in," he said. "I think football is changing and managers should be called head coaches."
