Ex-Red Lee Sharpe names one & only Jose Mourinho replacement at Old Trafford
- As per the former Red, it is Zinedine Zidane
- He doesn't believe Jose will last long
Sharpe told Press Association who he'd replace Jose Mourinho with: ''I think Zidane would be the ideal candidate. He’s played at the highest level, managed at the highest level and has been successful at both. He’s a big enough name who could cope with the pressure and the questions asked of managing a club of that size so I think he would be ideal.''
Just as Sharpe let his thinking be known, the day started with an update from some of Britain's best sources who claimed that Jose Mourinho's position at the club is not precarious and, most importantly, that Zinedine Zidane is not considered as a replacement since there is no post to take up at the moment.
This summer, the Frenchman was the first manager in too many years to step down as Real Madrid head coach and not be dismissed. He won three consecutive Champions League titles in his 2,5-year spell and one LaLiga trophy. He's currently out of job as a Man United rumour cropped up a few days ago. He's also tipped for either France or Qatar post.
If Mourinho went midseason, the only real replacements are: Zidane/Conte/Wenger.— Alex Shaw (@AlexShawESPN) August 20, 2018
Zidane: He's not getting a tune out of this team. He succeeded at Madrid in certain circumstances.
Conte: Would fall out with people and decapitate Woodward.
Sharpe has already predicted that Mourinho will be gone by Christmas as the former midfielder, who player for Sir Alex Ferguson's Man United from 1988 up until 1996, is displeased with the negativity level the Portuguese has cultivated at Old Trafford.
