Paul Merson claims Alexis currently 'lost' at Man United
- The 29-year-old has failed to score a goal in six months
- The former Arsenal forward believes the Chile all-time best goalscorer can't be happy with his struggles at Old Trafford
- The pundit believes Sanchez's struggles under Mourinho are caused by the differing level of expectations from players at Emirates and Old Trafford
“He doesn’t look like he’s enjoying it. He looks a bit lost at the moment, but that could be confidence – six months without a goal! For someone who’s that good – that’s a long time,” Merson told Sky Sports. “I think he’s behind the 8 ball. I think he’s struggling at Man Utd.”
The pundit believes the reason for Sanchez's struggles under Mourinho caused by the differing level expectations of players at the Emirates and Old Trafford.
“When he was at Arsenal, he was the top man. Everything went through him. Plus, you could try things at Arsenal. That’s not the case at Old Trafford,” he added. “You saw Mourinho at Chelsea with Hazard, if you’re not following the full-back or you’re not defending, you’re coming off or you’re not playing next week.
“They don’t create as many chances as at Arsenal. Arsenal were all out attack, but that’s not what happens at Old Trafford. I think he’s struggling.”
