Dimitar Berbatov identifies Spurs' main weakness for United to exploit
- Berba used to play for both United and Tottenham; the two meet each other on Sunday.
- The Bulgarian rather fancies Spurs as favourites.
- However, he reckons United could make use of the opponents' fatigue.
- They played Chelsea midweek in the Carabao Cup.
Dimitar Berbatov scored 27 goals in two years at Tottenham which earned him a transfer to Old Trafford in 2008 where he stayed for four full seasons. Next up for United in the Premier League are Spurs which will be an intriguing game for the striker.
He shared his game expectations with The Mirror: ''This is the first real test. At some point, a loss (for United) is going to come and then it will be interesting to see how the new boss is going to react to the first one. Unless they don’t lose to the end of the season, of course. That really would be unbelievable.''
Berba's stats in the Prem:
Tottenham had a midweek Carabao Cup semifinal against Chelsea that they won 1-0. It was plain to see Mauricio Pochettino's men were saving energy for United judging by how they gave the initiative to the Blues.
Berba said: ''If Spurs can overcome the tiredness in their legs, they have a great chance of winning again. But United will be so confident after five wins in a row and they can win this if they play smart and exploit any fatigue Spurs might show.''
He concluded with one thing for sure: ''It’s going to be entertaining, I’m sure. A defeat for either would be a damaging blow to their season-long goals.''
