French tier 1: Everton lead chase for United-linked Meunier
- The full-back has long been a target for United & Arsenal.
- Albeit, Everton have already made an attempt to sign the 27-year-old.
Man United could miss out on singing of Paris Saint-Germain right-back Thomas Meunier, according to reports in France. Paris United, a top-tier source, claim the 27-year-old has already played his last game in the Parisians shirt with Man United, Arsenal and Everton all eager to land him this summer.
While the Red Devils and the Gunners are yet to make an official bid to sign the Belgian, Everton 'recently sped up the negotiations and sent an offer', as per the source.
Meunier has never been considered as a first-choice right-back by the Parisians boss Thomas Tuchel, thus, the defender could be heading away from Parc des Princes this summer, according to L'Equipe, another reliable French outlet.
The 27-year-old, who has never made a secret of his admiration for United, himself insists he wants to stay at PSG, however, he doubts the Parisians need him. “As I have said, nothing is clear, with regards to me or the club,” Meunier told Canal+ on Sunday. “People are enquiring, left and right, but I still have another year on my contract.
“The club knows my position, I have always said that I want to stay.
“Aside from that, do I suit them or not, do they want to change the Paris cycle a bit? Nothing is clear for the moment and we are going to see a little what happens. I think that I will receive news during the holidays.”
United view the Belgian as a potential replacement for Antonio Valencia who has left Old Trafford as a free agent.
