ESPN's Nicol explains why United are right to overspend on Wan-Bissaka & Maguire
- Wan-Bissaka joined United for £50m.
- The Red Devils could spend £80m for Maguire.
- And Nicol claims the Red Devils should splash the cash to improve the team.
United have rocked the transfer market earlier this summer by spending a massive £50 million on Crystal Palace's Aaron Wan-Bissaka despite his relative lack of top-flight experience.
However, ESPN FC's Steve Nicol believes United fans should be happy to see the club splashing the cash if it means improving the team.
The former Liverpool man said: "If you're a Manchester United fan, you look at Aaron Wan-Bissaka, whether you think he's overpriced or not, and you look at Harry Maguire, whether you think he's overpriced or not, you've just strengthened your back line big time.
"54 goals they conceded last year. 54. That's incredible. But now, you have three of a back five where you know exactly what you're getting from them, you can rely on them. So, for me, the team is absolutely, with Wan-Bissaka and Maguire, are miles better than what they were."
