'I can easily find 3 players like Maguire at an amateur club': ex-Spurs' van der Vaart truly means it
- Van der Vaart just can't believe how much Maguire cost United.
- He sees players of Maguire's level in a Sunday league.
- Given Harry's price, van Dijk should cost over £300m.
Harry Maguire is among the key reasons why United concede less this season. Former Spurs midfielder Rafael van der Vaart, however, believes he'd find plenty of Maguires in Sunday league for nothing money.
He told Ziggo Sport Voetbal: "I can easily find three players that can do the same as him [Maguire] when I'm playing on an amateur level on a Sunday afternoon. I'm being serious here. Not the nicest thing to say, but I truly mean it."
Maguire became the most expensive central defender ever this summer topping Virgil van Dijk's price tag. Out of these two, is it even a surprise a Dutchman van der Vaart actually rates another Dutchman van Dijk more?
The ex-player compares: "He [Maguire] can do something, but if he is worth so much money [over £80m], Virgil van Dijk is worth 300 million."
Harry has a history with weird statements, here's one from Moyes:
On Sunday night against Liverpool, Maguire proved to be among the best United players. For his part, van Dijk was dragged down to the floor by Marcus Rashford.
