The Sun: United set to trigger Bailly extension
- Bailly's contract expires in the summer of 2020.
- The Ivorian has been linked with Arsenal and Barcelona.
- The Red Devils are looking to extend the defender's deal by a year.
According to The Sun, the Red Devils are looking to trigger the Ivorian's contract extension clause, adding an extra year to his deal.
The Sun quote a source within Old Trafford as saying: "The club have invested a lot of money and time into Eric over the past few years. He has is undoubtedly one of the best defenders here when he can stay fit and healthy.
"The fact remains, we have been very prudent in recent years when it comes to covering ourselves. We don't want players running down their deals. For the next year, at least, we will box him off and see how his playing time fares over the rest of this season."
It's important to remember that The Sun were the first outlet to report about the upcoming new contracts for Phil Jones as well as Chris Smalling last season.
Bailly, who moved to Old Trafford in 2016 from Villarreal for a fee of £30 million, is currently contracted to United until the summer of 2020.
