Barcelona president Bartomeu embarrasses himself using Transfermarkt value while discussing Arthur sale
  • Barcelona midfielder Arthur Melo has been allowed to join Juventus at the end of the season, with Miralem Pjanic de facto moving the other way.
  • The Catalans have sold the Brazilian for an initial €72m transfer fee with a further €10m in potential add-ons included while the signing of Pjanic has cost them €60m plus a further €5m in add-ons.
  • Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has insisted that basically swapping a 23-year-old reaching his peak for a 30-year-old in decline is primarily a sporting decision.
  • The Spanish entrepreneur has also expressed confidence that Arthur has a big future in football; however, he's provided it with pretty embarrassing argumentation.
  • "Until a few months ago his Transfermarkt value was €70m," the 57-year-old told RAC1 and, therefore, hitting a new low even for a man with an already tarnished reputation.
